Laura Nyro was still in her creative prime here, and this album is on par with Eli and the Thirteenth Confession and New York Tendaberry. Fortunately for us, Analog Spark has released outstanding new vinyl versions of Eli, Tendaberry, and now Pure Pleasure Records has released Christmas and the Beads of Sweat/5().

 · Conceptually, this album is as potent as her previous effort, New York Tendaberry, but in a much different way. Rather than hanging together thematically, Christmas and the Beads of Sweat features two inclusive and distinctive sides of music -- with different musicians and producers for each. The first five tracks feature Nyro backed by the /10().

Laura Nyro pretty much spells it out there for you in black and white. If you still don't get it, not sure what I can say to help. this is an AMAZING song about not only hard drugs, but also about the human condition and why someone would want to inject enough drug to kill. some people have simply had enough pain in their life.. they've given 4/5(3).

 · Christmas is my all time favorite Laura Nyro album and one of my favorites of all time. What didn't work on Tendaberry, worked on this album IMO. Yes, Christmas was still esoteric, but for some odd bloody reason the songs worked better on this one. I also thought that the cover was so cool and emblematic of the 70s.
