The Kinks became arena rockers with Sleepwalker, and its follow-up, Misfits, follows in the same vein, but it's a considerable improvement on its predecessor. Ray Davies has learned how to write within the confines of the arena rock formula, and Misfits is one of rock & roll's great mid-life crisis albums, finding Davies considering whether he should even go on : Friday Music.

If you don't ("Gently pity those you can't persuade," as Jonathan Swift put it), it's unlikely you'll acquire the habit with Misfits, especially since none of the songs sounds like an immediate hit if you do, this LP can make you cry.
Misfits is a great album of Kinks, maybe the last one with that classic sound (typical '70s), the albums that followed showed changes in mixing and concepts of creation, but still came classics like "Come Dancing" State of Confusion "and other/5(49).
